Read about the Rockford Branch
The Rockford branch of the People of Praise began when several men and women who were involved in the charismatic renewal responded to a call from the Lord to form community. In response to this call, they established Tree of Life covenant community on December 8, 1979. The community grew, with guidance from the People of Praise, and in October, 1986, Tree of Life became a mission branch of the People of Praise.
Rockford is located in northern Illinois, approximately 80 miles northwest of Chicago and 15 miles south of the Wisconsin border. The city has a population of 150,000, with 250,000 in the metropolitan area. Fifty adults and 40 children make up the Rockford branch today. We enjoy a life of close friendships, mutual care and concern for one another. In 2001, the community acquired the former Latham Park School as a home. The building has become a major asset as a venue for our various celebrations (Festival of Lessons and Carols, Harvest Celebration, anniversary parties, etc.), basketball games, bonfires, as well as our weekly gatherings for praise and worship. It is our point of departure for going forth to be Christ in the Father’s creation.
